What the Opportunity involves:

In return for the low-cost accommodation (£199 pm), we are looking to match a well-suited Sharer to our older retired homeowner who finds living alone quite lonely and isolating. He enjoys regular telephone calls with friends and former colleagues and keeps himself busy during the day, but he misses having someone else around to talk to in the mornings and evenings over breakfast or supper.

Our homeowner is a retired senior commercial lawyer and an academic. He spends his days reading, taking online courses in languages and walking his very cute West Highland terrier. He speaks French, Spanish and a little German, and he enjoys listening to classical music on Radio 3.

This opportunity would suit someone who might be working in the law or in business and who would enjoy preparing and sharing a few evening meals together during the week over some interesting conversation. Someone who is also happy to help with a little light housework such as keeping the kitchen tidy, putting the bins out, watering and weeding the plants occasionally.

Our homeowner would prefer to share with someone who has been fully  vaccinated, and ideally likes small dogs.

A cleaner comes to the house weekly.

Cost: £199 per month

This is a monthly facilitation fee for our matching and ongoing monitoring service. You do not pay any rent to the homeowner. You may need to contribute to council tax (c£50 per month) if you are working, or make a small contribution to energy costs. Full time students are exempt from Council Tax.
